Inspiration from John Mayer

Playing on the iPod: "Split Screen Sadness" by John Mayer.

I've been enjoying this song lately. One line in the song really catches my attention:

"I can’t wait to figure out what’s wrong with me / So I can say 'this is the way that I used to be' "

I wonder if John Mayer would be as good of a songwriter if he were a Christian.

Love & Beauty

At the doctor's office today, I was reading a People magazine. Among their most beautiful people was Sarah Larson: former "Fear Factor" contestant and current girlfriend of George Clooney. One particular question People asked Sarah got my attention.

Q: Do you feel more beautiful when you're in love?
A: Doesn't everyone?

Well said.

2008 Sucks

Playing on the iPod: "Cut Me, Mick" by Yellowcard, "Split Screen Sadness" by John Mayer and "If Trouble Was Money" by Mint Condition.

The title says it all. I started 2008 with high hopes thinking this would be my year. I had a good job. Mackenzie makes me love her more every time I see her. I was confident about dating: I had a few prospects that I felt positive about pursuing. Yep, 2008 was going to be a good year for me.

Office OpenXML is *not* OpenDocument

Now, I won't pretend to know everything that's going on with the battle for an open office document standard. Personally, I use the OpenDocument standard as implemented by OpenOffice.org. However, when I was purusing Slashdot this morning, I saw that Patrick Durusau - editor of the OpenDocument standard - seems to be endorsing Microsoft's Office OpenXML (OOXML) format. You know that confused look dogs make? Yeah, that was me.
