The title says it all. I started 2008 with high hopes thinking this would be my year. I had a good job. Mackenzie makes me love her more every time I see her. I was confident about dating: I had a few prospects that I felt positive about pursuing. Yep, 2008 was going to be a good year for me.

I was a little nervous about this "outing". I've been fairly pre-occupied with other things in my life and felt that I had not prepared myself enough for this musical worship session. Mainly, it was because I was doing three new songs - two of which I've never played in front of people before. I did come up with some good places for Kindra (youth pastor's wife) to assist on vocals. It made the songs and the whole experience that much better.
I've been reading "The Unquenchable Worshipper" and I'm processing the idea of what it means to lead musical worship. The second chapter of the book really brings this concept to the forefront of my mind. When I'm up there, I want to say or do something that's going to make the congregation begin to sincerely praise & worship God. Since that's been my goal, I've always fallen short. This chapter I'm reading is really helping me to understand that I have very little to do with whether the congregation enters into worship of the Master or not.

What a crappy start to the weekend! I missed the company holiday party Friday night because I was called to work. I worked from 7:45pm to 1:30am. I got 4 hours sleep, then worked for another 2.5 hours. I was working like a madman because I didn't want to miss H2O band rehearsal.

It was a Chris Tomlin morning. Of the 5 songs we played, 4 of them were penned and recorded by Chris Tomlin. I think JT has a Tomlin obsession.
