Victory Christian Center - Eustis, FL

Leading: Brian Abbott and I

This was another instance of Brian and I not having the time we needed together to really practice the songs. Brian had me do some new octaves during "I Live For You". It sounded pretty nice. Plus, I played with a capo and he didn't. We do that alot just to add that little "something". There were a few spots that I didn't play the right chords. Oh yeah, my battery was also dying so you could barely hear my guitar. Brian messed up once or twice as well.

Leading: Me

I have one word for this musical worship experience: horrible.

Victory Christian Center - Eustis, FL
Leading: Me

Last night's musical worship was so good. I was on top of my game. The kids were worshipping. The youth pastor was excited about it and was using it to speak to the kids. I was pumped.

H2O Church - Orlando, FL
Leading: H2O Band

This was a last-minute thing for me. When I say last minute, I mean about a week's notice. However, I didn't look at the music for this musical worship set until the Friday before. The song list itself was okay. Some I've played, some I haven't. I enjoy playing with Ryan. He's always got these ideas for intros and such and he likes to include the bass player (me). That makes me feel good. Sometimes I feel disconnected in my little corner because the leader is always talking to the electric guitarist or the drummer so much, but never talks to me. Anyway, I'm getting more comfortable with the top two strings on my bass. It's really exciting.

The musical worship eperience itself was good. I believe that JT is benfitting from the little breaks he gets by allowing the Thursday band to play on a Sunday. Hopefully, we can find a better solution than that for the long term (read: allow me to lead some times). I think I made a few minor wrong note mistakes through out the set. All in all, I believe I did very well. I didn't sing along as much this time. I was always trying to do something funky with my guitar. There was genuine worship from the congregation, as well as the band members, throughout the set. That's really what we're here for, right?

Now, I just need to get better at improvisation so I can hang during the pre- and post-jam sessions.

H2O Church - Orlando, FL
Leading: H2O Band

This was the single greatest experience I've ever had playing in a worship band. I had very little practice time to practice, but things came together so well for me. We had a great set. I was really worshipping while playing. My hands were just gliding over the neck. I was succeeding at my new goal - avoid over-filling the empty spots between notes. I made my share of mistakes, but they were just stupid mistakes that I'm always making because I'm such a green bassist.
